National Day Of Action Of The Overdose Crisis - Prince George

Start Date
End Date

The POUNDS Project is hosting a Day of Action in Prince George, BC. , on April 16,2019,, 3years and 2 days after provincial health officer Dr. Perry Kendall declared a public health emergency under the Public Health Act due to the significant rise in opioid-related overdose deaths reported in B.C. since the beginning of 2016.

We want the drug war prohibition to stop!

Our solution;, People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) People who love PWUD, and People whose loved ones who have died from overdose is...

1. Safe Supply
2. Decriminalize ALL Drugs
3. Overdose Preventions Sites in ALL communities -get creative
4. The federal government to step up - declaring a National Emergency
5.Staying Alive Plans for everyone. No one uses alone and has a plan regardless of drug history or lack of - this helps UNdo stigma, and normalize drug use. (EVERY AGENCY CONNECTED WITH PWUD, NEED TO CREATE A "STAYING ALIVE PLAN" WHEN DISCHARGING) STOP throwing people on the street with NO support!!
6. Person centred treatment options- improved access to ALL treatment. PWUD can NOT afford to wait.. iOAT, detox, residential treatment, councelling and or whatever the fuck they want!

The POUNDS Project is allied with National host, (CAPUD) Canadian Association of People Who Use Drugs, Drug User Groups,( MSTH) Moms Stop the Harm groups across the country.
